API

Our custom-branded offer might not be enough for you. You need more flexibility and you have the technical resources to build your service according to your needs, adding your own features and user experience, and integrate it all on your own servers. The WorldFriends Networks API lets you do all this and more.
WFN offers an Application Programming Interface (“WFN API”) that allows third party software developers to create their own social Internet services, while still allowing the end-users enjoy the ‘WorldFriends experience’ and socialize with all WFN members.
The WFN API represents an important historic ‘first’ for the social Internet industry. WFN is the first social Internet service to enable third parties to create their own social applications with proven, built-in end-user subscription fee revenues. For example, company XYZ could use WFN API to build a service called ‘XYZ Friends’, using XYZ’s brand and XYZ’s custom-made GUI, features, and site map. From the first day that XYZ Friends launches, end-users can have access to the entire member base of WFN and a quality user experience that end-users are proven to be willing to pay for. There’s nothing worse than an empty restaurant with lousy food, especially if you spent a lot of effort to build the restaurant. WFN API eliminates all of these issues for our partners.
Why an API?
Possibilities are endless. You could position the service in exactly the way you want, implement as many or as few features as you need, or integrate your community inside your existing mobile phone service for example. Being an API partner will allow you to build your site your own way, and still enjoy all the benefit of the network’s core functionalities.
Benefits of the WorldFriends API:
- Flexibility: Add or remove any elements, platform, GUI, etc.
- Integration: Your service doesn’t need to stand alone anymore, members profiles seamlessly merge with your existing content.
- Pageviews: Run your pages from your own servers, but keep enjoying the advantages of being in a network.
Who is currently using the WorldFriends API?
Our first partner to use the API is one of the world’s biggest Internet companies, Yahoo! Japan.
Yahoo! Japan used WorldFriends API to create a ‘Yahoo domain’ introduction, registration, and login area for Yahoo! Japan WorldFriends. In addition, we also used Yahoo! Open ID so that Yahoo! Japan users can login to WorldFriends using their existing Yahoo! Japan IDs. It’s pretty cool. Click here to visit Yahoo! Japan WorldFriends.
Who should apply:
Please note that because of its highly technical nature, the API option is targeted at partners with sufficient traffic and technical expertise to implement and run such a system.
